Introducing your Host
Tim Minchin is an internationally acclaimed comedian, songwriter, singer and pianist. A popular performer on the UK scene, he has sold out his shows in London's West End, around the UK, and internationally – in Canada and Australia. Tim has appeared on radio and television in the UK, US and Australia.
Tim has featured on both Friday Night with Jonathon Ross, and Never Mind the Buzzcocks. Tim was a guest on one of the last shows that Jonathan Ross hosted at the BBC in July 2010, and he performed a bespoke song for Jonathan.
The Royal Shakespeare Company opened a musical version of Roald Dahl’s Matilda at the RSC’s Courtyard Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon in late 2010, featuring music and lyrics composed entirely by Tim. It was a complete sellout for the twelve week run. The musical transferred to London’s West End in the autumn of 2011 and won the Ned Sherrin Award for Best Musical at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards.
Tim has won Chortle Awards for three consecutive years, scooping two awards in 2009, another award for 'Best music or variety act' at the 2010 ceremony, and most recently winning the 'Best music or variety act' and ‘Best Tour’ at the 2011 Chortle Awards. Other recognitions of Tim’s achievements include the Perrier Best Newcomer award (Edinburgh Fringe Festival), Directors' Choice award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival for his breakout show Darkside, Best Alternative Comedy Act at the US Comedy Arts Festival (Aspen), and three-time Green Room Award Winner (Australia).
Renowned for his sharp lyrical observations and extraordinary musicianship, he is extremely popular in the corporate sector, particularly for his ability to create tailor-made songs for clients. Corporate clients have ranged from Microsoft, to Emap, to Pret A Manger!

THE CHERRIES AWARDS 2010
PRESS
“Minchin is a genuine musical virtuoso, whose songs are constructed and sung with an attention to detail that would make Rufus Wainwright sit up and look nervous. And that’s even before we get to the jokes.”
THE TIMES
“He plays like an angel, sings like the rock star he always wanted to be and has a devil of a sense of humour. This is an extraordinary performer.”
